The number of countries and organizations that have confirmed their participation in the Global Peace Summit in Switzerland has decreased from 93 to 78.
Radio Svoboda reports this on condition of anonymity, quoting several diplomats from EU countries who are familiar with the course of preparations for the event.
The interlocutors did not name the countries that changed their mind to go to the meeting. But one of them did not rule out that the list could be replenished. "My goal is to have a family photo of almost 80 people," he said.
Another, reporting 78 confirmed participants, expressed optimism, on the contrary. According to him, "there is still some time."
Radio Svoboda asked the Office of the President of Ukraine for a comment on the number of participants in the summit. As soon as the answer comes, it is promised to be published.
We will remind you that on June 2, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, spoke about confirming the participation of 106 countries, but added that Russia actively opposes the organization of the event.
On June 10, Swiss President Viola Amgerd announced the registration of 90 countries and organizations. In total, about 160 invitations were sent.
As "DS" wrote, the President of Argentina, Javier Millay, changed his mind at the last moment and still decided to participate in the Global Peace Summit, which will be held in Switzerland this weekend.
