Amazon has applied for TikTok purchase

Amazon has applied for the purchase of Tiktok in the US on the eve of a deadline when the platform should either change the owner or face a ban on the United States. The sources reported this, referring to an interview with The New York Times.

Despite the application, the negotiators do not accept it as a serious proposal. The proposition letter was sent to US Vice President Jay Venus and the Secretary of Trade of Howard Latnik, but the details of the agreement remain confidential. At the same time, Amazon refused to comment on her application, and Tiktok has not yet provided an official answer.

Tiktok now has 170 million users in the US, which makes it an important player in the digital technology and E-commerce market. The platform is actively developing its own Tiktok Shop store, but much of the influentors still directs traffic to Amazon, which gives the company favorable opportunities for integration of sales into the social network.

Interestingly, Amazon had tried to create her own Tiktok analogue called Inspire, but this project did not attract users and was closed. The acquisition of Tiktok could give Amazon new opportunities in the social commerce market, which is beneficial for a company that seeks to strengthen its impact in the field of sales through social networks.

Not just Amazon is interested in buying Tiktok. In 2020, Microsoft and Walmart jointly claimed the purchase of Tiktok, but the deal did not take place. Now potential buyers are billionaire Frank Mccort and Employer.com founder Jesse Tinsley.

Another unexpected proposal was ZOOP's application, which is related to the founder of Onlyfans. The company stated that it cooperates with the cryptocurrency and has already been in contact with the White House about the possibility of the agreement.

Despite active negotiations, Tiktok has repeatedly emphasized that it did not intend to sell, partly because the Chinese government could block such an agreement.
