Amazon has announced significant changes in her office policy. Since the beginning of 2025, company employees will have to appear in the workplace five days a week, instead of three, as it was before. This step also includes the cancellation of the remote work program that allowed employees to work from home for four months a year.
This was reported by Andy Jesse CEO in a letter to employees published on the company's website on Monday, Reuters writes.
He noted that the experience of the three -day schedule "confirmed our belief in the preferences" of work in the office.
Since the beginning of the pandemic, many companies have allowed employees to work from home, causing offices in the center of many cities, such as San Francisco and Seattle, have remained almost empty. However, some technological companies begin to demand the return of employees to offices for two or three days a week.
Amazon has taken a harsher position than many of his competitors because the Covid-19 ceased to be a daily threat. Employees described Reuters as Amazon demanded that they work in sometimes remote offices or move to Seattle to keep their jobs. Some employees who did not systematically adhere to the existing three -day schedule said they were "voluntarily released" and they were blocked in Amazon systems.
This decision has caused dissatisfaction among a large part of employees who claim that working from home is effective and saves time and money on the road. Last May, Amazon staff in Seattle organized a protest in Seattle, opposed to changes in the company's climate policy, staff abbreviations and returning to the office.
As part of the reorganization, Amazon plans to increase the ratio of individual employees to managers by 15% by the end of the first quarter of 2025. The internal document states that "some organizations may identify roles that are no longer necessary", but without additional details.
