According to the investigation, KIPF sold data to international buyers, including people from Algeria, Russia and Ukraine.

In court, he pleaded guilty, noting that he had committed the crime in part in order to avoid paying alimony to his ex -wife, who is guilty of more than $ 100,000.

"This scheme was cynical and destructive, partially based on a difficult goal: to avoid the obligations to pay alimony," - said the prosecutor in the eastern district Kentucky Carlton S. Schier IV.

Kipf was sentenced to seven years in prison for computer fraud and theft of personal data.

According to US law, it is obliged to serve at least 85% of its term.

After his release, law enforcement agencies will be closely observed for three years.

The total amount of damage that the offender has caused state and corporate computer systems together with unpaid alimony is estimated at about $ 196,000.
