Starbucks plans for 2028: expansion of coffee shops in India to a thousand points

Coffee shops Starbucks Corp., the world's largest chain, plans to expand its presence in India to 1,000 points by 2028. Currently, Tata Starbucks, a joint venture between Starbucks and Tata Consumer Products, already has 390 coffee shops in 54 cities in India. According to an announcement from Starbucks, the company plans to open a new coffee shop in India every day for three years.

In addition, Starbucks intends to double the number of employees in India by 2028, to 4,600 people. It is planned to open coffee shops in smaller cities and airports, as well as to expand the network of car cafes and coffee shops that work around the clock.

The company's strategy focuses on improving the qualifications of local personnel, improving service in new coffee shops and popularizing Indian coffee among Starbucks customers around the world. Founded in 2012, Tata Starbucks is said to be owned equally by Starbucks and Tata Consumer Products.

Starbucks shares lost 0.2% on Tuesday and are down 11% over the past 12 months.
