US officials have revealed Israel's possible response to an Iranian attack

US officials are considering a possible Israeli response to a massive Iranian airstrike last weekend. Israel's response is likely to be limited in scope, they said, and will mainly target Iran's military and its proxies outside the Islamic Republic.

The US assessment is based on conversations between US and Israeli officials that took place before the attack. Last week, as Israel prepared for a possible Iranian attack, Israeli officials briefed their American counterparts on possible response options.

US officials noted that they had not been informed of Israel's final decision on a possible response to Iran's actions, and options could change.

They also emphasized that it is not yet known when exactly the answer might happen, but added that it could happen at any moment.

Last weekend, Iran launched a massive attack on Israel in response to an Israeli strike on April 1 that destroyed Iran's diplomatic mission in Damascus and killed Iranian generals.

After the Iranian attack on Israel was repulsed, including thanks to the forces of the United States, France and Britain, calls began to be heard in the West for Israel not to inflame the conflict even more.
