US Presidential Administration Joe Baiden has made a decision that made a factual ban on the deployment of US military contractors in Ukraine, for the first time since the beginning of a full -scale Russian invasion in 2022. This will allow the Pentagon to provide contracts to US companies for the service and repair of weapons that the US supplies to Ukraine, including F-16 aircraft and Patriot Air Defense systems.
According to officials, this step is aimed at accelerating maintenance and restoration of the systems used by the Ukrainian military, which should allow the equipment to be returned to the front line more promptly. According to CNN sources, US contractors will be at a considerable distance from the front line, not participating in hostilities, but providing critical support in maintaining the US equipment provided.
The US Department of Defense has confirmed that this plan is in the implementation process, since systems such as F-16 and Patriot require special maintenance, which can only be provided by specialists with appropriate experience. It is not yet clear whether this policy will continue in the event of Donald Trump's return to power in 2025, given its previously expressed purpose to end the war between Ukraine and Russia in the short term after returning to the presidential office.
