Biden spoke at the UN General Assembly: his last as US president

US President Joe Biden made his last speech at the UN General Assembly, ending his term in office in a significant setting for himself and the world community. In his speech, he recalled the beginning of his career, talking about the moment when he was first elected to the Senate in 1972 at the age of 29.

"I know I look like I'm 40," Biden joked.

Speaking about Ukraine, he said that his policy was successful, and called on Kyiv to continue to support it.

"Putin is not achieving his main goal: Ukraine is not destroyed, and NATO is stronger than before. We cannot allow the situation to remain unchanged, we must maintain our support for Ukraine in order to preserve the freedom of this country," the president said.

Biden also spoke about the need to reform the UN.

"The UN needs to adapt, to hear new voices, new views. It is for this reason that we supported the expansion of the membership of the UN Security Council," said the outgoing president.
