Denis Berinchik, a Ukrainian boxer, suffered the first defeat in his professional career, losing to American Davis's American in battle for the WBO lightweight title. The battle took place on February 15 in New York in the legendary Madison Square Garden. The duel was a difficult test for a Ukrainian who was unable to cope with the attacking style of Davis.
In the third round, Berinchyk visited the knockdown after a powerful blow to the corps, and in the fourth round after the next Davis attack on the corps, the Ukrainian boxer was forced to stop the fight. This defeat means that Berinchik lost his WBO champion title.
Now the title of WBO champion in lightweight is owned by Kayshen Davis. The list of world champions in this category looks like this: Jervont Davis (WBA), Shakur Stevenson (WBC), Keyshon Davis (WBO) and Vasyl Lomachenko (IBF).
This battle became the first protection of the title for 36-year-old Berinchik after his victory over Mexican Emanuel Navarret in May 2024. Prior to that, the Ukrainian spent 20 matches in the professional ring, none of which ended in defeat.
