Flooding in southern Brazil has left at least 107 dead and 136 missing. More than 165,000 people were forced to leave their flooded homes and were evacuated by boat and helicopter.
The governor of Rio Grande do Sul state, Eduardo Leyte, said that according to preliminary estimates, the state will need at least 19 billion reais ($3.68 billion) to recover from the effects of the floods. "The consequences of the floods and the scale of this tragedy are devastating," he said.
