The White House explained Trump's position on NATO

US President Donald Trump leaves his devotion to NATO, but he expects the Alliance to “pay its fair share” on defense spending. This was stated by the White House Prescribe Caroline Libitt during her first briefing on January 28.

Livitt emphasized that until NATO fulfilled its financial obligations, the dedication of Trump to the organization would remain strong. However, he is waiting for the Allies to increase the cost of defense to 5% of their GDP, which has become one of the main requirements of the US President.

The prescretist also reminded that there was no better ally for European countries that are members of NATO than President Trump during his first term. According to her, thanks to the diplomatic approach of Trump "Peace through Power", the world was much safer for both Europe and the United States.

Livitt also referred to NATO Secretary General Rutte, who believes that Trump's demand for the Alliance Member States to spend more on defense is fair. This emphasizes the overall approval of the US position on this issue within the Alliance.
