Current US Secretary of State Anthony Blinken expressed concern about possible changes in US foreign policy in the event of Donald Trump's return to power. In an interview with The Associated Press on his last day on the job, Blinken highlighted the risks to key initiatives of the Joe Biden administration, including Ukraine, the Middle East and international alliances.
According to Blinken, there is a danger that the new Trump administration may abandon policies aimed at helping Ukraine fight against Russian aggression. He also fears the collapse of efforts to end the conflict in Gaza.
"When we came, we inherited partnership agreements and alliances that were seriously damaged. So if the past is a prologue, that will be a cause for concern," the state secretary said.
Blinken also expressed concern about the possible weakening of alliances that the Biden administration has made significant efforts to strengthen. According to him, renewing relations with key partners has become one of the biggest achievements of the Biden team.
"I'm not familiar with the Trump team's approach, but I think there should be real continuity in some areas," Blinken added.
