Ukrainian actor Bohdan Beniuk defended linguist and former MP Iryna Farion, who was at the center of a language scandal. Benyuk expressed support for Farion and called Russian-speaking Ukrainians "invaders".
The actor believes that it is "unacceptable" to speak Russian in Ukraine, even at the front. He claims that those who use the Russian language contribute to the promotion of "Russian measures" in Ukraine. Beniuk called on the heads of state, employees of state institutions, the leadership of the army and commanders who take the oath to serve Ukraine in the Ukrainian language, to support Farion's position.
"Farion said the right thing and was not afraid to do it during the war," Benyuk said. He also considers citizens who communicate in the language of the enemy abroad to be "Russians". Beniuk called on the society to reconsider its attitude towards the citizenship of Ukraine.
The actor urged those who grew up in Ukraine and do not speak the Ukrainian language to rethink their attitude to citizenship. "We need to think about those people who grew up in Ukraine. Shame on them! The fact that they protect Ukraine is great. But they defend by speaking the language of the invader. This is unacceptable," he added.
Earlier, in an interview, Iryna Farion expressed disagreement with the Russian-speaking servicemen of the Armed Forces, calling them "Russians" and caused outrage in society.
