The incident occurred in the Pechersk district of the capital, in the Central House of Officers of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, during a live broadcast. A detonator previously brought to the studio by one of the servicemen caused the explosion due to the careless handling of the presenter.
According to preliminary information, the 25-year radio host, which was born in 1999, took the army detonator of the VP-9 mark, which was in the studio as an exhibit. The presenter began to manipulate the device on the air, which led to its detonation. As a result of the explosion, she suffered shrapnel wounds of the arm and abdomen. According to doctors, the condition of the woman is stable, but she was still hospitalized for further treatment. The police responded promptly to the incident, sending an investigative group and explosives to the scene. It was found that the army detonator was in the studio as an exhibit, but it was not properly isolated from the possibility of the explosion. The explosive device was delivered by the invited serviceman, probably without all the safety rules. Criminal proceedings under Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - illegal handling of weapons, combat supplies or explosives have already been initiated.
