Boryspil is preparing to take planes

Ukraine is actively working on creating a new security system that will restore airline. According to Alexei Dubrevsky, the Director General of Boryspil Airport, 60-70% of the necessary work has been completed.

The creation of a single coordination center between military and civil aviation is considered. This will allow you to effectively manage the risks and provide safe space for flights. Both Ukrainian and international specialists are involved in the development.

The decision to restore flights will depend on the risk assessment and the state of air defense. After making the relevant decision by the State Aviation Service of Ukraine, the Boryspil Airport will be able to take the first planes in 24-48 hours. It will take 3 to 4 weeks to start regular flights.

International aviation regulators and insurance companies also play an important role in the opening of airspace. For example, Ryanair is ready to restore flights from Ukraine within a month after receiving the required permits.

Before the war, 65% of passenger and 85% of Ukrainian freight transportation were held through Boryspil. Despite the calls, the airport stored 3,500 employees and maintains infrastructure in working order.

The first flights may be renewed by the end of January 2025 in Lviv or Boryspil. Already 5-6 airlines have expressed their readiness to return to the Ukrainian market after resolving insurance issues.

“I'm optimistic. We have great expectations for this year, ”Alexei Dubrevsky summed up.
