The UK intends to step up support for Ukraine in 2025, using economic sanctions against Russia and initiatives to block the Kremlin's financial sources. This was announced on December 16 by the Prime Minister of Great Britain, Keir Starmer, during a meeting with his Norwegian counterpart, Jonas Har Støre, in the city of Bergen.
Politicians discussed the current situation in Ukraine, focusing on key steps to strengthen Ukrainian positions in the future. According to Sarmer, his main priority is to ensure the most favorable situation for Ukraine in 2025.
"For this, such tools as economic sanctions and the initiative to create a "shadow fleet" aimed at blocking key sources of funding for Putin's military machine are used," the British prime minister emphasized.
The "shadow fleet" initiative in question involves combating illegal Russian oil transportation schemes that allow Moscow to circumvent sanctions and finance military aggression. Great Britain continues to consistently work to reduce Russian influence on the international energy market and increase economic pressure on the Kremlin.
Starmer also emphasized the importance of coordination with partners such as Norway to effectively support Ukraine and strengthen European security.
The statement of the Prime Minister of Great Britain reflects the strategic focus on long-term support of Ukraine both in the military and economic spheres, which is an important factor in the fight against Russian aggression.
