British intelligence: Russia is training generals from the military returned from Ukraine

Intelligence of the British Ministry of Defense reports that Russia has begun a new stage of training military personnel who have returned from the war in Ukraine for classes at the Academy of the General Staff. This information indicates that the gained combat experience can be used to form the future generation of high-ranking officials in the Russian army.

According to intelligence, a new recruitment of officers began at the Russian General Staff Academy on December 1, 2023, and more than 60% of them have combat experience. British analysts believe that this may be related to the participation of the military in operations on the territory of Ukraine.

According to the findings of British intelligence, among the participants of the academy are usually individuals with the rank of major to major general (equivalent to a one-star general in the NATO system). This shows that training at the academy can be a preparation for higher command.

An important feature of this new stage of training is that the combat experience gained at the front in Ukraine is becoming more comprehensive among Russian middle-ranking officers. Note that this differs from previous practices, when pilots and other specialized specialists were mainly involved in military operations.

British intelligence fears that this generation of officers can significantly influence the strategic decisions of the Russian army and use the lessons learned from the war in Ukraine. It is important to monitor the development of the situation and analyze the possible effects of these changes on international security.
