The event remains dependent on some goods with the Russian Federation, despite the promises to break economic relations with it. These include diamonds, uranium, as well as oil and gas, which in one way or another reach the US markets and their allies. About it writes The Washington Post
The world's largest titanium-Avisma titanium manufacturer has not fallen under US or EU sanctions.
Despite the fact that the company is included in the defensive conglomerate "Rostekh", headed by Sergei Chemezov, which has been under personal sanctions since 2014.
In 2022, the SUMPP exported about 15 thousand tons of titanium worth $ 370 million, with most of them sent to countries supporting Ukraine.
The list of largest buyers was headed by Germany, France, the USA and the United Kingdom. Data for the year 2023 are less transparent, exports are estimated at least $ 345 million. In particular, $ 244 million in EU countries, $ 47 million in the US.
Dependence on Russian titanium experts is associated with fears about security, since this metal is important in the production of commercial and military aircraft. In 2022, the Airbus CEO stated that it would mean sanctions against themselves.
Although Airbus promised to give up Russian titanium, according to the available data, imports lasted at least until November 2023.
Boeing has broken many years of relations with the SMPPO and canceled the joint venture of Ural Boeing Manufacturing, announced only a few months before the invasion. However, subsequently, the company's suppliers made significant purchases, which are refused by Boeing.
The only country that has imposed sanctions against UKMPO-Avisma-Ukraine.
Since September 2023, the United States Minor has introduced export control against the company because it produces products for the army.
But these measures only affect exports to the Russian Federation, not the import of titanium from it.
Analysts say that the lower cost of Russian titanium enables buyers to count on reduced prices.
