McDonald's faces serious challenges after the US Centers (CDC) have announced an outbreak of Escherichia coli (E. coli), associated with one of the most popular Network products - Quarter Poinger hamburgers. This led to a significant fall in the company's shares by 9%, causing concern for investors and consumers.
On the evening of Tuesday, US Centers for Control and Prevention of USA stated that the E. Coli E. coli outbreak, which is associated with the McDonald's Hamburgers, Quarter Pounder. Due to the outbreak, one person was killed and 10 people were hospitalized in 10 states, the newspaper reports.
"After the initial fall, more than 9% after the closure of the McDonald's action, the expanded session was completed by 5.8%," the newspaper wrote.
"Most patients report that the Quarter Pounder hamburgers from McDonald's are eating, and researchers are working quickly to confirm what kind of food ingredient is infected," the CDC reported.
At least 49 cases of diseases, mainly in Colorado and Nebraska, were registered in the CDC.
In his statement, McDonald's reported that the initial results indicate a possible connection with the chopped onion, which is used in Quarter Poinger and purchased from one supplier serving three distribution centers.
The company did not name the supplier nor the distribution centers. The network has stated that she was asking for local restaurants to remove this product from their deliveries.
The company stated that "for reasoning", it temporarily seized the burgers of Quarter Pounder from restaurants in the affected area, which includes Colorado, Kansas, Utah and Weiming, as well as parts of Aydakho, Iowa, Missouri, Montana, Nevako, NEWAKO.
"We are working in close partnership with our suppliers to replenish the Quarter Poinger in the next weeks," the deadline will change depending on the local markets, the company said.
"We will continue to work with centers for disease control and prevention and undertake to provide timely updates as our full menu is restored," the company said.
