Why can't Russia recapture the captured territories in the Kursk region

According to an analysis published by Politico, Russia is unlikely to be able to repel the Kursk region in the near future because of serious problems with organization and logistics. Earlier there were fears that thousands of servicemen, transferred to Ukraine in Kursk region, led to a lack of forces in other regions. However, analysts are convinced that Ukraine will be able to keep the occupied territories for at least several months, until Russian troops organize adequate actions.

An anonymous military official, who said that Ukrainians manage to replenish their troops in Russian territories, while the Russian side faces serious problems in planning and coordinating their hostilities. "Until it indicates that they are ready to make a serious attempt to return the Kursk region, and I do not think they will be able to do it in the near future," he said.

Earlier, Bloomberg reported that Ukraine will be able to keep territories in the Kursk region for several months or even longer. Russian troops, in turn, carry out only limited counterattacks, focusing their efforts mainly in eastern Ukraine.

German General Christian Freuding pointed out that Ukraine's attempt to weaken Russian pressure in the Pokrovsky direction at the expense of operations in the Kursk region did not succeed because Russia did not remove its troops from the East. However, he does not consider the Kursk operation a "gesture of despair", believing that it can be an important factor in possible peace talks.
