Arbitration between Ukraine and the investment holding company AVN Holdings SA for nationalized Sense Bank can lead to compensation of more than $ 1 billion. Former bank owners, Russian businessmen Mikhail Friedman and Petro Aven, filed a lawsuit with Ukraine, demanding compensation for the alleged arbitrary actions of the government, which led to the nationalization of the bank. This arbitration process has been going on for over a year, but there is no significant progress.
In Ukraine, the case is protected by the British company Quinn Emmanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, which has already been spent 450,000 euros. However, the plaintiff took on the cost of the first phase of the process, which amounted to $ 400,000, due to the refusal of Ukraine to make a payment. Prospects for the development of the case are uncertain: two scenarios are possible, in one of which the process can be delayed by 2027.
Experts do not give unambiguous forecasts for the outcome of the arbitration, although most experts are inclined to the fact that Friedman's victory is higher. However, even in the event of a win, it is not a fact that he will receive full compensation he demanded.
