Since the beginning of 2025, fuel prices at Ukrainian gas stations (gas stations) have increased due to increased excise duties and oil rise in the world markets. However, according to experts, prices can be slightly reduced by spring 2025 due to low demand for fuel in winter.
In January this year, gasoline, diesel and gas prices increased through new excise duties and increasing the cost of oil in the world markets. Excise duty on gasoline increased by 1.5 hryvnia per liter. Excise diesel fuel increased by 2 hryvnia per liter. The price of liquefied gas rose by 1.3 hryvnia per liter. Also, in early January, the price of oil increased by 10%-from $ 75 to $ 82 per barrel, which caused the price of fuel by 2.5-3 hryvnia. These factors together led to rising gas stations. There is now some cooling in the oil market. The price of Brent oil is currently ranging from $ 76-78 per barrel, which has led to a slight decrease in fuel prices for gas stations. Sergiy Kuyun, director of the "A-95 Consulting Group", noted that due to low demand for fuel in the winter, prices for gas stations may still be reduced because "sales are actually absent". He predicts that gasoline prices (A-95, A-92, A-98) and diesel can be reduced by the spring of 2025. Demand reduction is a seasonal phenomenon that usually lasts until March. When fuel consumption increases, it can affect the price. However, now, because of a large supply of fuel, prices are changing slowly. As soon as consumption increases, prices will respond more to changes. The situation in the world markets can also be an important component for reducing the cost of fuel. If the US increases oil production, the price can fall by another $ 5 per barrel, which will also be reflected in prices in Ukraine. As of February 20, 2025, the average price for A-95 gasoline in Ukraine is UAH 56.90 per liter. Here are top prices for different types of fuel at gas stations: gasoline A-95 premium: 60.19 UAH per liter, gasoline A-95: 56.90 UAH per liter, gasoline A-92: 54.06 UAH per liter, diesel: 55.29 UAH per liter, gas: 37 Prices may vary depending on the gas stations. For example, at Avanth 7 at the A-95 gasoline station costs 52.95 hryvnias per liter, and at SOCAR, OKKO and WOG gas stations-59.99 hryvnia per liter.
Fuel prices are expected to be reduced by spring 2025 due to low demand and a stable oil market. However, seasonal decrease in demand, as well as world market factors, leave some uncertainty in fuel prices in Ukraine.
