Various surveys indicate the inclination of the public to reject the constitutional proposal. For example, CADEM survey showed that 50% of respondents oppose 32% of supporters, noting the public mood and difficulty in achieving consensus.
Voting against the project of the right can lead to the preservation of the current constitution that arose during the dictatorship of Pinochet, putting the left in a difficult position, since their historical goal was to replace the constitution of the dictatorship.
The Borich government supports independence in the campaign before the referendum and noted that there will be no new constitutional process if the option is "against". In the case of rejection of the new text, the possibility of another constitutional process during its term is excluded. However, some political parties, including the Communist Party, are interested in continuing the process without interruption.
