Members of the European Parliament want to remove Hungary from the presidency of the Council of the EU

The tension in the European Union has reached a new level in front of the planned chairman of Hungary, which should begin on July 1 this year. According to The Guardian, the MPs of the European Parliament have collected more than 20,000 signatures, demanding to remove Hungary from the Board of the EU Council because of its controversial attitude towards common European values and international obligations.

Hungary is going to head the EU on the basis of a rotational chairman of July 1, which causes a lot of anxiety through the blocking of many initiatives to support Ukraine and friendship with Moscow.

Daniel Frend, German Parliament MP from Greens, sent a corresponding letter to the President of European Council Charles Michel:

Together with 20,000 citizens, we, the following members of the European Parliament, are asked to officially suspend Hungary's presidency in the Council. It would be very harmful to the reputation of our union if the current Hungarian government represented us ...

Hungary in its current state would never withstand the criteria for joining the EU. Therefore, its criminal leadership should not have the right to represent the union.
