In the Netherlands, the training program for the Ukrainian military in the maintenance of F-16 aircraft has ended, the Ministry of Defense of the Netherlands reported.
During the course, the Ukrainian military received in-depth knowledge of the maintenance of all important components of the fighter, including the helmet, oxygen systems and parachutes. They were also trained to assemble and test an emergency survival kit, which provides a pilot with the necessary resources to survive a crash landing for several days, including food and medical supplies.
This training program is designed to prepare the Ukrainian military for all possible scenarios of the use of F-16 aircraft in Ukraine, providing them with a better level of protection.
It will be recalled that in March, ten Ukrainian pilots successfully completed basic training in Great Britain, and then continued their training in France before moving on to training on the F-16 aircraft themselves.
In May of last year, the President of the United States, Joe Biden, approved plans to train Ukrainian pilots on F-16 aircraft belonging to the American military equipment. The media reported that the exercise would take place in Europe, and American experts would join it along with European allies and partners. This course can last several months.
The Netherlands, Denmark, and Belgium have announced their intention to transfer aircraft to Ukraine, in particular for conducting exercises that are planned to be held in Denmark and Romania. Other countries have confirmed their readiness to join this process of training Ukrainian pilots on F-16 fighter jets.
In November, a pilot training center for F-16 aircraft was inaugurated in the Romanian city of Fetest, where, in particular, Ukrainian pilots were to receive training. Among the instructors at this base can be not only representatives of Romania, the Netherlands and the USA, but also military pilots from other NATO member countries.
