Russia is negotiating with Ukraine in Istanbul not to achieve peace, but for its victory. This was stated by the Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev on Telegram on June 3.
He stressed that negotiations aimed not to have a compromise peace under "unrealistic conditions", but as soon as possible the achievement of Russia's victory. Medvedev promised the complete destruction of the Ukrainian authorities, which he described as "neo -Nazi", and noted that this is the main meaning of the recently published Russian memorandum.
In addition, he appealed to those who "worry and waited for retribution", assuring that the Russian army would continue offensive actions in Ukraine. According to him, "everything that must explode will be destroyed, and those who must be exterminated will disappear."
These statements indicate that Moscow is not set to real peace talks, but sees them as a tool for further military pressure.
