In 273 settlements of Moldova, including the capital Beltz, on November 19, the second round of local elections. According to the Central Election Commission (CEC), 609 polling stations were opened to operate from 7:00 to 21:00.
In order for the elections to be recognized as valid, it is necessary that at least 20% of voters take part. The winner will be recognized as a candidate who received the most votes.
One of the key intrigues is the election of the mayor of Beltz, where they choose between Alexander Petkov from Our Party and the socialist Maxim Morosan. Petkov headed the first round with 22.7%, and Moroshan took third place with 19.7%. In second place was Arina Korshikova (21.52%), but it was removed from the elections, which opened the path of Moroshan to the finals.
The first round took place on November 5. The speaker of the Parliament of Moldova Igor Gross has defined local elections as "Russia's unprecedented intervention in Moldova's internal affairs through dirty money and propaganda."
