Georgia Maloney opposed sending Western troops to Ukraine

Italy Prime Minister George Meloni does not support the departure of Western troops to Ukraine. She considers it a reason for the escalation of war with Russia.

About it reports ANSA.

"As for France's proposal for possible direct (military) intervention, ... Our position is not in favor of this hypothesis, which is a harbinger of dangerous escalation, which should be avoided at any cost," said Meloni while speaking in the Senate on the eve of the EU leaders summit.

According to Bloomberg, Italy's prime minister has criticized French President Emmanuel Macron, who puts pressure on German Chancellor Olaf Soltz to take a more decisive position, warning of the "existential" threat that the Russian Federation is for the EU.

She also added that negotiations with Russian dictator Vladimir Putin in vain.

"How can you sit at the table of negotiations with someone who has never respected any agreements?" - said Meloni.
