The head of the security programs of the Center of Globalism "XXI" Pavel Lakichuk on the air "Says Great Lviv" said that it is too optimistic to talk about the absence of a new blackout in Ukraine. He recalled that during the Blackau of 2022-2023, Russian troops tested the tactics of attacks on the distribution network and substations around Ukrainian nuclear power plants.
"It is not necessary to hit nuclear reactors, it is enough to hit the substations, and nuclear power plants will not be able to use their generation. Automation works, protection systems disconnect production," the expert explained.
Lakichuk also emphasized that the Russians have been actively attacking the balancing generation, thermal and hydroelectric power plants in Ukraine since the spring of this year. "It is actually preparation for the mass blackout, because without the balance of electricity it is impossible to wave capacity in the conditions of super -stress," he added.
On September 21, Foreign Minister Andriy Sibiga noted that Ukrainian intelligence recorded the Kremlin's preparation for attacks on critical nuclear power facilities before the winter season. This applies to open switchgear at NPPs and electrical substations that are critical for the safe operation of nuclear power plants.
Sibiga stressed that damage to these plants can lead to a serious risk of nuclear incident with global consequences. Ukrainian intelligence services have informed partners about this threat, which was also reported at the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA).
Lakichuk also noted that Ukrainian air defense has become much more powerful than previous years, but the situation in the energy system remains difficult. "Unfortunately, I can't please anything," the expert summed up.
