On August 11, a fire took place at the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant (ZPP), which caused serious concerns about the safety of this strategic facility. However, experts believe that this incident was not accidental, but deliberate provocation from Russia.
The co -founder of the NGO "Anti -Crisis Expert Nuclear Center of Ukraine" and an expert in nuclear energy Olga Kosharna expressed the opinion that the fire at the NPP is connected with combat actions in the Kursk region. According to her, Russia could deliberately arrange arson at the nuclear power plant to influence the position of Western partners on the military operation of Ukraine in the Kursk region.
"It is a provocation of Russia, aimed at causing Western countries to put pressure on Ukraine demanding that you stop hostilities. They are nuclear terrorists who have violated all possible international norms," Kosharna said.
According to the expert, the thick black smoke observed during the fire indicates the burning of materials such as asbestos or plastic that maintained fire after the generator and fuel is ignited. The situation was complicated by the fact that the fire trucks could not reach the incident due to the displacement of the coastline of the Kakhovka reservoir, where the Hardening is located.
Despite the severity of the situation, on August 12, the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) reported that the team had carried out radiation monitoring and found no signs of increased radiation. Also, no wreckage of drone, ash or soot was found, which could indicate the presence of materials that could cause a fire.
"This smoke was probably caused by the combustion of plastic," Kosharna explained.
The head of the Nikopol District Military Administration Yevgeny Yevtushenko declared earlier that Russian invaders were set on fire in a large number of car tires in Hradirna. However, the Russian military analyst Jan Matveev called this incident a "dull provocation", since there are no materials that could cause such a large -scale fire at this object.
