French farmers against government reforms

French farmers do not refuse to protest in Paris, despite the ban on any unauthorized meetings in the center of the capital. The protest action organized by the Union of Agrarians "Rural Coordination" (CR) should take place on Sunday night, and, according to its leader Veronica Le Flok, circumstances and a specific place of holding are secret.

The French authorities have taken security measures to avoid violence and possible damage during protest. In particular, it is forbidden to hold a meeting in the center of Paris from 18:00 Sunday to noon Monday. The restrictions apply to such important points as the Elysee Palace, the National Assembly, the Runge Gun Market and the A6B highway. The police have explained these measures in the need to prevent clashes and provide order in the city. However, despite the ban, rural coordination does not change its plans. According to Veronica Le Flok, dozens of tractors will arrive in Paris on Sunday evening, and several hundred protesters will be ready to enter the action.

The main requirement of protesters is the protection of small farmers and ensuring their financial survival. The Trade Union requires the Government of Guarantees on Agriculture Reforms, including the protection of small farms from excessive administrative loads. In addition, agrarians require a decrease in the number of inspections and permits, as well as revision of European agrarian standards, which, in their opinion, are often over -burdened by French farmers. The French government has already announced that the Prime Minister will accept representatives of farm unions from January 13, but "rural coordination" believes that this date is too distant and does not allow the prompt solution to the problems faced by farmers. Farmers' protests in France are not news. The last major action took place in early 2024, when agrarians blocked one of the main highways connecting Paris with the northern city of Lill and Benelux countries, creating multi -kilometer congestion. The end of the school holidays will be expected to extend the regions of France after the school holidays. The rallies and overlap of roads can become part of a new wave of protests that cover the whole country. This will create additional pressure on the government and will probably require more prompt decisions on agricultural problems.

Despite the ban and strict security measures from the authorities, French farmers continue to fight for their rights. Their requirements in particular concern the protection of small farms and reduce administrative barriers. Given that the government does not yet provide satisfactory answers, we can expect that protest shares will continue in the regions of France, in particular in the form of rallies and road overlaps.
