The Russian Federal Security Service reported to prevent the TU-22M3 strategic bomber in Ukraine. According to the FSB, the Ukrainian and intelligence services of NATO tried to recruit a Russian pilot, offering him the financial reward and citizenship of Italy in order to transport him to Ukraine through the airfield "Ozerne" near Zhytomyr. The FSB notes that during the operational action aimed at this airfield, a blow was performed.
The video published by the Russian authorities shows the plane and the pilot, as well as demonstrates investigative events. According to records, the pilot first worked under the control of the FSB, after which he contacted Ukrainian intelligence on his own.
The Ukrainian authorities did not comment on these events.
A similar incident happened last summer, when Ukrainian scout Roman Chervinsky tried to recruit a Russian pilot to deliver a military aircraft to Ukraine. However, it turned out that the pilot acted under the control of the FSB, and instead of the designated aircraft at the airfield was a rocket strike.
Roman Chervinsky is now in custody and is accused of unsuccessful recruitment.
