On Thursday, December 28, the commander -in -chief of the Netherlands Army, General Martin Vynen, expressed serious concern for the possibility of war with Russia. He called for the preparation and readiness of citizens, pointing to have sufficient food and water in case of unforeseen circumstances.
"We must seriously prepare for a possible armed conflict with Russia," said General Vynen, pointing out the experience of countries bordering or located near Russia, such as Sweden, Finland and the Baltic country. He emphasized the importance of the readiness of the whole society for possible negative events.
The general stressed that citizens should have sufficient food and drinking reserves, since the Netherlands security cannot be considered guaranteed because of a long distance to Russia. He argues that the Russian leadership understands only the language of strong armed forces, and therefore it is necessary to strengthen the army of the Netherlands.
Similar signals also come from Germany, where Minister of Defense Boris Pistorius expresses indignation about the current situation. He warns that conflicts in the Middle East and Ukraine can have important consequences for Germany and calls for the Bundeswehr funding.
Pistorius emphasizes that it is necessary to accelerate the process of financing the army, pointing to the creation of a special fund of 100 billion euros for the needs of the Bundeswehr. He also expresses concerns about neglecting the army for a long time and emphasizes the need to improve the situation. The politician believes that by the end of the decade, Germany should take a more active position in the affairs of his army.
