The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of the Verkhovna Rada, Danilo Getmantsev, reported that content creators on the Onlyfans platform from Ukraine began to declare their income and pay taxes. In particular, 350 authors declared an income of UAH 305.4 million, of which UAH 59 million has already been received in the budget in the form of personal income tax (PIT) and military fees.
Getmantsev noted that late payment of taxes is not a ground for criminal prosecution if the funds have already been paid. He stressed that the tax authorities and law enforcement officers support such an approach aimed at legalizing citizens' income.
Moreover, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine registered a revised draft law on decriminalizing the creation of pornographic content. In particular, it is planned to exclude Article 301 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which provides for the responsibility for the distribution of pornography. This can be an important step for the legal regulation of platforms such as Onlyfans.
Earlier, it was published that more than 5,000 Ukrainian content creators on Onlyfans have earned $ 123 million from 2020 to 2022. However, most of these incomes were not declared due to the lack of a corresponding legal mechanism.
The new approach of tax authorities and lawmakers aims not only to increase the revenues to the state budget, but also to create conditions for legal work in the field of creating content for adults.
Danilo Getmantsev stressed that the issue of decriminalization of content creation is relevant, since modern legislation does not correspond to the realities of the digital economy. Legalization of Onlyfans will allow the content authors to work openly, pay taxes and avoid the risks related to applicable law.
