Food allergy: top 6 most dangerous products

Many people mistakenly believe that allergies are mainly caused by seasonal fruits and berries in the summer and citrus fruits in the winter. However, research by allergist Anastasia Levchenko from the AirDOC Allergology and Immunology Clinic points to other products that often cause allergic reactions.

What is a food allergy? This is an exaggerated immunological reaction of the body to certain food products, usually caused by food protein.

Allergist Anastasia Levchenko says: "There are three groups of products that can cause allergic reactions. The first group accounts for 90% of all food allergies. This is exactly what will be discussed in our anti-rating."

Top 6 Most Dangerous Products Causing Allergies:

  1. Cow's milk: Lactose intolerance is observed in 20% of the population, and allergy to cow's milk protein occurs in 2-3% of the adult population. An alternative can be soy milk, which contains vegetable protein.
  2. Nuts and Peanuts: Contains harsh allergens, and even a small amount can cause a severe reaction. Cashews, almonds and macadamia nuts are especially dangerous for people with allergies. Peanuts contain more than 30 types of protein, 15 of which are allergens.
  3. Eggs: Allergy to egg protein develops in childhood and can cause a variety of reactions, from itching to serious manifestations. Some products that contain egg white should also be excluded from the diet.
  4. Honey: Although honey proteins themselves rarely cause allergies (no more than 1% of cases), bee pollen and proteins that get into honey can cause allergic reactions.
  5. Shellfish and Crustaceans: Seafood such as scallops, squid, and shrimp may contain allergens that cause cross-allergic reactions. People allergic to shrimp may also react to other species
