Humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip: the UN has declared the region uninhabitable

The Gaza Strip is on the brink of a humanitarian disaster due to the ongoing Israeli bombardment. According to a report by satellite analysis agency UNOSAT, 18% of the region's infrastructure was destroyed, including 60% of housing units and half of the infrastructure in the northern strip.

Currently, the situation in the Gaza Strip is dramatic:

  • 77% of hospitals do not work;
  • 90% of Palestinians faced daily starvation;
  • More than 85% of the population (1.9 million people) were forced to leave their homes.

The Israeli army claims that its military operations are aimed at eliminating Hamas and guaranteeing national security. At the same time, Hamas representatives use Palestinian civilians as "human shields" in hospitals, homes and schools.

Organizations such as Human Rights Watch and Amnesty International, as well as various representatives of the UN, point out that Israel may be violating the principle of apartheid, a policy of racial discrimination. Israel claims this is anti-Semitism.

The Director of the UN Aid Agency states: "Gaza is becoming uninhabitable. This cannot even be compared with other conflicts in the region. Here life becomes impossible, especially for children. They are going through real hell."

The situation in the Gaza Strip continues to deteriorate, and the UN is calling for international assistance and an immediate end to the violence to save lives and restore the humanitarian situation in the region.
