A rapper from Iran who spoke in support of Ukraine was sentenced to death

Rapper Tumaj Salehi was sentenced to death in Iran for participating in anti-government protests. The sentence was handed down for "spreading corruption on earth", a term used by Iranian authorities to describe various crimes related to Islamic morality.

Salehi was detained in October 2022, and in 2023 Iran's Supreme Court sentenced him to 6 years in prison for supporting anti-government protests, including through songs and speeches.

The rapper also actively supported Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor. At the beginning of the invasion, he released a song dedicated to our country, and in the music video he wore a yellow and blue flag.

In April 2024, the court of the city of Isfahan reviewed the sentence and issued a new one - the death penalty. The executor's lawyer is now trying to appeal this sentence.
