Iran plans to transfer hundreds of ballistic missiles of the near radius of FATH-360, which can significantly affect the course of war in Ukraine. This information came from European intelligence and was confirmed by two sources for Reuters. According to them, the Russian military is already undergoing training courses to use these missiles.
Thus, sources in the intelligence of European countries told Reuters that in December 2023, Russian representatives had agreed with Tehran on the supply of FATH-360 ballistic missiles (pictured) and a ballistic missile system called Abibal.
According to intelligence, the Russian staff visited Iran to learn how to control the FATH-360, a system that launches ballistic missiles with a maximum range of 120 kilometers and a warhead weighing 150 kilograms.
One of the sources of Reuters reported that "the only next possible" step after training would be the actual delivery of missiles to Russia. But none of the interlocutors was able to clarify when it happened.
The third source of Reuters in European intelligence confirmed that Russia has sent soldiers to Iran to teach the use of Iranian ballistic missile systems, but did not provide details.
Iran's high-ranking official told Reuters that Tehran sold rockets and drones to Russia, but did not provide FATH-360. He also stressed that there is no legal prohibition on the sale of Iran's such weapons for Moscow.
In the US, they refused to confirm information about the possible supply of ballistic missiles, but a representative of the White House National Security Council, John Kirby, stressed that NATO Allies and the Seven Group are ready for a "quick and strict response, if Iran made such a transfer."
It should be noted that the defense cooperation between Iran and Russia intensified after the Russian Federation began a full -scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022.
It is known that Iranian Fath-360 missiles can affect targets within 80-120 kilometers. They have warheads weighing 150 kg. The FATH-360 can be located on the starting unit on the basis of the truck.
Some experts say that the technical characteristics of the FATH 360 are about the same as HIMARS. In particular, they have the possibility of satellite management.
