Iran declared readiness to limit the amount of uranium enriched to 60%, which is much lower than the level required to create nuclear weapons. This was announced by the Director General of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Raphael Grossi during a meeting of the Council of the Governance of the Organization.
According to Grossi, reducing the reserves of this uranium is an important step towards reducing tensions.
This measure can significantly reduce the amount of material suitable for further enrichment to a level sufficient to create several nuclear warheads.
Despite the consent of Iran, the United Kingdom, France, Germany and the United States have submitted a resolution that calls Tehran for greater transparency and cooperation in the nuclear program.
Currently, Grossi has not specified whether this decision was related to any additional arrangements between Iran and other parties. At the same time, he stressed that this step is "a specific progress in the right direction .
