Iran supplies Russia with missiles, but without launchers

Iran handed Russia a small range of Fath-360, but without starting installations. This happened because of the decision of Moscow and Tehran to give greater advantage for missiles than cumbersome launchers, for which Russia already has alternatives, reports the American Institute for War Study (ISW).

Despite the fact that Iran and Russia have repeatedly denied the facts of supplying FATH-360 ballistic missiles, the media and Western intelligence indicate that transportation has happened. On September 21, Reuters, citing unnamed US and EU official sources, confirmed that Iran had not sent mobile launchers to Moscow for these missiles.

According to ISW analysis, "Iran did not send mobile launchers for FATH-360 ballistic missiles, which he recently put in Russia, probably because of the decision to give preference to sending additional missiles over cumbersome and easily substituted launchers." Delivery of bulky installations would require additional transportation that can be avoided due to the presence of its own installations in Russia, which can serve as an alternative.

This solution allows both countries to avoid the logistical burden of transportation of starting installations, while simplifying the transfer of FATH-360 missiles. This provides the opportunity to better hide the supply chain and deny Iran's involvement in Russia.
