The volume of world-class air passenger traffic will reach its peak in 2024

Airlines plan to set a new record for the number of transported passengers in 2024, reaching the mark of 4.7 billion people. According to IATA's new forecast, this will exceed 2019's previous record of 4.5 billion passengers, marking the end of the industry's recovery from the crisis caused by COVID-19.

The organization also predicts that airlines will post a net profit of $25.7 billion next year, thanks to record revenues of $964 billion. Despite this growth, IATA director Willie Walsh warned of a modest net margin of 2.7%, underscoring the importance of a more sustainable future for the global aviation industry.

North America is projected to maintain its lead with projected airline net profits of $14.4 billion next year. Meanwhile, American Express GBT reports stable fares in 2024, with little change in ticket prices in different regions of the world.
