Iran responded to the IAEA resolution

In response to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) resolution, Iran announced the launch of new, advanced centrifuges to enrich uranium. The country's authorities condemned the approved document as a "politically motivated, unrealistic and counterproductive step."

The head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) has ordered the launch of a significant number of advanced centrifuges of various types. According to the Iranian authorities, this was done to:

  • Protection of national interests.
  • Development of a peaceful nuclear program in accordance with the needs of the country and within the framework of international obligations.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Iran and the UAE consider the resolution politically motivated and not objective. However, Tehran emphasizes readiness for a constructive dialogue with international partners based on the principles of international law.

  • The reason: The IAEA accused Iran of insufficient cooperation in its nuclear program.
  • Voting:
    • For: 19 members of the IAEA Board of Directors.
    • Against: Russia, China, Burkina Faso.
    • Abstained: 12 countries.
    • Did not vote: 1 country.
  • The resolution was initiated by the USA, France, Germany and Great Britain.
