On November 24, it became known to arrive in Poland's installation of the anti-aircraft missile complex (SPRC) Hawk, which Spain passes to Ukraine. According to Army Recognition , this delivery is part of the full battery of the system promised in September, which includes six starting installations.
Complexes transferred to Ukraine are modernized in the 1990s versions of Improved Hawk Phase III . They are able to intercept air goals up to 40 km and up to 18 km. These systems are designed to effectively protect against drones and winged missiles, which pose a significant threat to Ukrainian cities and strategic facilities. The peculiarity of delivery is that Ukrainian calculations have already undergone appropriate training in Spain as part of the European EUMAM mission. This allows Ukraine to start operating these systems immediately.
Spain became the first country to provide Ukraine with HAWK in 2022. Subsequently, the connected states were joined in the transfer of these complexes. Such an international partnership is aimed at increasing Ukraine's air defense, which is a key task in the face of constant threat to aviation and missile strikes.
The transfer of the HAWK SAM battery demonstrates the sequence of European allies in providing the necessary military assistance to Ukraine. These complexes will be an important complement to the air defense systems already involved in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
