Spain is developing a manual for the population in case of war

The Spanish authorities are working on the creation of a national civil defense plan that will help the population to act in the event of military danger. This document is part of the 2nd National Civil Defense Strategy, approved by the Spanish National Security Council on October 15, 2024.

The National Civil Defense Plan will be a practical guide for citizens, explaining the actions in the event of a threat of war. For the first time in the history of Spain, the Threat of War has been included in the list of emergencies in the field of civil protection.

Among the key aspects of the plan:

  • Evacuation instructions;
  • Basic rules of emergency safety;
  • Tips for preparing water, food and medicines;
  • Emergency services and ways of receiving official information.

The development of the plan is part of Spain's five -year initiative aimed at increasing readiness for various emergencies, including natural disasters, man -made accidents and now - possible military threats.

Spain goes in the footsteps of other European countries, such as Finland, Norway and Sweden. These states have already developed and distributed among the population information guides with the main recommendations in the event of a war.

For example, in Sweden, citizens receive detailed postcards that explain how to act during attacks, where to look for shelters and how to provide the family with the necessary resources.
