Israel planted explosives in pagers: new details from Lebanon

Recent ABC News reports have drawn attention to the possible use of technology in the conflict between Israel and Lebanon. According to the sources, Israel planted explosives in the pagers, which were later detonated on the territory of Lebanon. This incident became the subject of discussion not only in the media, but also among security experts.

This type of supply chain interception operation has been planned for at least 15 years, a US intelligence source confirmed.

"The planning of the attack involved shell companies, with multiple levels of Israeli intelligence operatives and their assets, fronted by a legitimate pager company...At least some of the companies did the work without knowing who they were actually working for," ABC reported.

The pager was rigged with one to two ounces of explosives and a remote trigger to cause the explosion.

Although the pagers were formally manufactured by Hungarian BAC Consulting, they "were never in Hungary, and the company was a reseller, with no manufacturing or operational facility in Hungary."
