Japanese princess Yuriko Mikasa died at the age of 102

The Japanese Princess Yuriko Micasas died at the age of 102, leaving behind the inheritance, which preserves the memory of several generations of the Japanese imperial family. Princess Yuriko was the widow of Prince Takahaito, the younger brother of Emperor Hirohito, the grandfather of the current Emperor Naruhito. She is considered the last aunt of Emperor Akihito on the paternal line, as well as the only living member of the imperial family born during Taii.

The cause of the death of the princess could be a polyorgan failure, from which she was treated in the clinic. Earlier this year, the princess was hospitalized because of problems with the functioning of vital organs.

Princess Yuriko and Prince Takakhito, a cousin, married in 1941 and lived together for 75 years. They celebrated their diamond wedding on October 22, 2016, and five days later, Prince Takakhito died. They had five children, two of whom still live.

During her life, Princess Yuriko actively supported public initiatives and charitable organizations. She was an honorary president of a number of organizations, including the Japanese Red Cross Society, where the princess made a significant contribution to the development of social support and health care.
