The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine has allocated an additional UAH 7.9 billion for the purchase of drones, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said. These funds will be redirected by the State Special Communications Service and Information Protection, which will make the necessary purchases.
Shmigal also noted that the government pays special attention to the development of domestic production of weapons, in particular unmanned aerial vehicles. In Ukraine, almost 100% of drones produced are domestic, and only in January 2025 the production of drones increased 10 times compared to the same period last year.
In addition, the government is actively working on increasing the production of different weapons: artillery, armored personnel carriers, anti -tank systems and ammunition. Production itself is about a third of the required quantity, and the task is to achieve 50% of the needs of the Armed Forces with their own production. For this purpose, in 2025, a record amount was allocated for the modernization of the defense-industrial complex (defense) and the purchase of weapons.
