The Government has approved the decision to create a national military-memorial cemetery near Kiev, Prime Minister Denis Shmigal said. The procedure for using funds in the amount of UAH 515 million from the state budget for construction and maintenance in 2024 was created.

This initiative involves the creation of a central memory place to honor the fallen Heroes of Ukraine, where everyone will be able to pay tribute to the dead.

According to Shmigal, this place will symbolize a sense of sorrow, pride, pain, respect, gratitude and eternal memory. He stressed that the construction of the cemetery will be one of the main tasks of the Ministry of Veterans for the current year.

Recall that in December 2023, the ministry presented a project of the National Military Memorial Cemetery, which was inspired by the Arlington cemetery in the United States.

According to the project, it is planned to place a military cemetery, a ceremonial area, a mourning building, a crematorium, a museum-exhibition complex and other infrastructure facilities on an area of more than 260 hectares.
