Mexico presidential candidates have officially completed their election campaigns. According to most surveys, Claudia Sheinbaum's leadership party may become the first female president of the country after a national vote to be held on Sunday.
Mexico holds its largest elections in the history of more than 20,000 positions in local, state and federal authorities, and almost 100 million Mexicans will have the right to vote. In 2018, 63% of voters voted in 2018, and sociologists emphasize the importance of high turnout in this election.
In addition to the President, voters will choose the legislators of both houses of Congress, a new mayor of Mexico City, eight state governors, as well as dozens of local officials.
The candidate from the governing party, the former mayor of Mexico Claudia Sheynbaum, closed her election campaign on the lively metropolitan Square Sokalo together with a candidate for the mayor of Mexico City from her party Clara Bruda. Brugada tries to preserve the power of the left in a branched metropolis, where the left controlled power since the election of the mayor in the late 1990s.
Sheinbaum promised to rely on the inheritance of the current President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador, but avoided the coverage of differences with him. She promises to manage the country if she wins, but experts point to the great importance of her political mentor.
Opposition Candidate Shochitl Galves, a left-right coalition representative, closed her campaign in Monterrea, a city at the Northern Industrial Center of Mexico. She has promised to improve social programs and fight corruption and violence in the country.
