In the Russian city of Korkin, located 35 km from Chelyabinsk, there were mass riots on ethnic soil, as a result of which dozens of people were detained. The information about the events is confirmed by Radio Liberty.
The riots began after the murder of a local resident who worked in a taxi. Her body with knife wounds was found in the car. The locals, convinced that the crime was committed by two visitors, on October 24 staged a rally near a house owned by representatives of the Roma Diaspora. According to eyewitnesses and information from local telegrams, the house was thrown stones and bottles with flammable substances.
Employees of special units who surrounded the house and pushed the crowd came to the scene. After that, the scattered groups of people dispersed the city and set fire to two more homes, as well as several cars, which, according to them, belonged to Roma.
The governor of Chelyabinsk region Alexei Texler informed that two of his deputies and units of Rosgvardia were sent to Korkin to resolve the situation.
Local media, including 74.ru, reported that representatives of the Roma Diaspora were massively leaving the city, leaving the neighboring Emanzelinsk. At least 30 people who participated in the pogroms were detained by police. The locals also approached the police to express support for the detainees.
The news also includes the detention of one of the suspected murder of a woman-a 17-year-old teenager. However, the regional administration of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation emphasized that the teenager's involvement in the crime has not yet been confirmed.
